Sink Gauge refers to how thick the steel in the sink is. The lower the gauge, the thicker the steel. All of our sinks start with 16 gauge stainless steel. By the end of the stamping process, the bowl becomes closer to an 18 gauge. Many companies will market the same sink as strictly a 16 gauge, but the most honest way to market it is to state that it is a 16/18 gauge product. All of the stainless sinks listed on our sink pages that are labeled “16 gauge” are in fact 16/18 gauge.  It is impossible to stamp a straight 16 gauge unless it is a one piece construction, which is more of a hand crafted product. All of the high end sink companies sell the same gauge sink that we do. Our sinks are 25% thicker than sinks that are marketed at 18 gauge and 50% thicker than sinks that are marketed at 20 gauge.
